Envision back to back televised reports of two smoking towers, emergency school lockdowns, terror and panic instilled in the hearts of every person living in america

Do you remember the day it happened?

How the people around you reacted to the news?

Envision the back to back televised reports of two smoking towers, emergency school lockdowns, terror and panic instilled in the hearts of every person living in America. Do you remember the day it happened? Do you remember how the people around you reacted to the news? How you felt? It was one of those days so tragic that you could walk down the street and see many people in tears, bawling from the pain of loss.

On the surface, it was obvious to what was happening, but have you ever looked at it on a deeper level?

Let your mind wander back further and further until you are who you were on that fateful day. Remember the sounds and voices of people talking, remember what was on the news, the radio, all around you. Remember what people were saying.

“We’ve got to get somebody for this!”

“We did nothing to deserve this!”

“We’ve got to get behind our country and our president!”

Now that the hysteria is over, we can look back and examine our reactions, were they appropriate? Were they reasonable? Were they even rational?

Our reactions during that crisis tell us much more about who we are than we'd like to believe.

“Humans are incredibly good, when faced with things going wrong, and rather than get together, sit down, and try and sort it out, at running around shouting and pointing and looking for someone to blame, and once a suitable or convenient victim is available, make its' life a misery, or generally kill it. The wise know that this is usually a sign of self-blame denial, blame transference, and other forms of responsibility avoidance. Of course, the wise rarely mention this to anyone else, since they have no interest in being beaten to death in pubs, or lynched on the street.

wait...what?

Media has been a huge part of the American culture. One cannot go a day without someone talking about what they saw on TV, heard on the radio, or read on the internet. While in and of itself, it is not a bad thing, but how deep are Americans in it?

On that day, we were subjected to constant repetitions of those same videos over and over. We were mesmerized by them. Over and over they played, and we could only meekly ask, "why?"

Following these videos, there were news reporters telling us that Al Queda were responsible. "Why?" The president answered that one for them. "They are evil freedom haters who hate America."

This sounds like a game or an action-superhero plot. In these types of shows, the villains are evil, and wish to do evil. Any person with common sense can tell you that the world is not black and white like the TV shows we watch. Yet... Americans believed them. For a moment we all believed that the world was black and white, and they hated us, just because they were evil.

Do you remember when it was reported that the fire fighters found “pockets of fire?” Remember when they said that since there are pockets of fire, there maybe pockets of people. Think about that for a moment. Is that sencerio realistic? Is it even plausible?

No, it’s not.

Yet, the Americans believed, hoped, and prayed that such a thing could have been true. Why? They didn't think of it on their own. The media told them and instilled that false hope.

The Patriot "Act"

Nearly every human being on the planet has a patriotic affiliation to their country. As a result of the events that unfurled due to the attacks on 9/11 there has been an extreme and unnatural patriotism instilled in the common American mind. Many of the people of this country have blindly followed every whim and command of the president just because he is the president. Everything told to these people by the media and the government is to them absolute truth. The American people as a whole welcomed the Patriot Act with open arms. In exchange for a false sense of security, the American public sold its very soul to the government. The people of America WILLINGLY gave up the freedoms which defined and once created us. The entire situation can only be paralleled with the era of McCarthyism. People accusing each other because of difference of opinion, over the very slightest of things. To most Americans it is unimaginable how people behaved during that time period, but in truth they are blinded to see the same exact thing before their very eyes.

What is it that we can learn from this particular set of circumstances? It is that the American people are easily tricked and swayed through a little bit of fear and an ever looming foreign threat to place the blame on.

There was a time where it was considered a reason to start a rebellion if we did not have our Due Process of Law. This was an idea that our founding fathers had, but it seems that times have changed, and Due Process isn't very important anymore.

"We've got to get somebody for this!"

During that fateful day, a question on everyone's mind was a simple "who did this?" For a few hours we were left in the dark, waiting for an answer. As we waited, we grew more impatient. It was at this time that the media told us that our heroes in the government have figured out who it was. They told us it was a terrorist organization based in the Middle East. The resounding unanimous response was “Let’s go get them!”

Think about that for a moment. We took not a second to consider the possibility that maybe they had a good reason, at least in their minds. This shows that we need our scapegoats. We were hurt and we wanted to find out who hurt us, only so we could hurt them back. We do not “waste our time” figuring out “why,” we simply believed our leaders that they were “evil.” Not only is this illogical, but it makes our world seem incredibly black and white, and anyone with a brain knows that is far from the truth.

“As the comedian Mark Thomas pointed out, to tell us not to think about why the terrorists chose to blow up the WTC, and to just be content with the explanation "They did it because they are Evil" is like telling a doctor not to worry about the causes of his patient's symptoms, because the cause is obviously evil demons.”

Anyone who hates us is Evil?

Following up with the “Who did this?” The next statement was a firm confident “We did nothing to deserve this!”

Now, no one is going to argue that the victims of the tragedy did nothing to deserve it, but what about our country as a whole? Most people in this country know very little about the outside world. They ignorantly assume everyone loves this country and wants to, in so many words, be us.

If you know any one who came from outside this country, if you ever walk into Canada, or if you have the pleasure of going to Europe, you soon find out how this is not the case. America is hated. (If you plan on going, here's a tip: say you're from Canada.)

"When asked to pick one "main reason why those who attacked us and their supporters hate the United States," the reasons given most often were

1. "our democracy and freedom" (26%) and

2. "our support for Israel" (22%)
However, almost as many believe the main reason is

3. "our values and way of life" (20%), and

4. "our influence on the economy and lives of Middle Eastern countries" (17%).

5. Only 11% believe our economic and military power is the main reason.

(Vexen added the bullet points for clarity)

This proves that people seem to think that anyone who hates us is Evil. They have no idea that people hate us outside the Middle East. After all, how could they hate us if they have the same democracy? I mean, it couldn’t be because of our foreign policy, or heavy-handed commercial aggression, or our patriotism and self-righteousness, or our children's rights, or our support of obnoxious regimes, or even how we’re just really stingy when it comes to foreign aid. Couldn’t possibly be that now could it?

The Biggest Douche in the Universe is a Real Eye-Opener

Contrary to popular belief, the biggest douche ever is not just some hack director who has nothing better to do than to rat on the president. He actually has a good point in his movie Fahrenheit 911*. That's right, Michael Moore does have something useful to say, and although he is the epitome of the word douche, what he says is worth listening to. Seeing Farenheit 911* truly opens one's eyes to all the lies and deceit behind the entire mass of events leading up to and on 9/11/01. The amount of coincidence is staggering and the web of lies is mind blowing in its extensiveness. The sheer amount of information this man has discovered about the Bush administration is worth hearing. YOU ARE AFFECTED BY EVERYTHING THE GOVERNMENT DOES. I suggest that you watch this movie if you have some spare time (skip the first 5-10 minutes as its only an intro with music and pictures)!!!

The Victims

Another thing that was said alot during those next days were that those victims were brave. Let us look at the definition of brave from Dictionary.com

Brave - noun, verb, braved, brav·ing.
–adjective
1. possessing or exhibiting courage or courageous endurance.
2. making a fine appearance.
3. Archaic. excellent; fine; admirable.

This was often shouted out by the media and everyone on television. Now, one cannot deny that the police and the firefighters were brave people, but were the victims brave?

No.

They were murdered, plain and simple, without warning. Once again, the American people allowed themselves to be manipulated by the media. The media threw on a positive connotation so we could further sympathize and mourn for our fellow Americans. As we mourned, we were thrown deeper into a state of depression, and the government promised to make everything better.

Again: 6 years later... we have no results.

But wait! There's hope!

While much of this blog has spent its time bashing Americans for their mindless obedience to anything that comes out of the media, all is not lost.

The Zogby Poll "results indicate [that] 42% believe there has indeed been a cover up (with 10% unsure) and 45% think "Congress or an International Tribunal should re-investigate the attacks, including whether any US government officials consciously allowed or helped facilitate their success" (with 8% unsure)."

Also another "poll of New Yorkers showed nearly half believe certain US officials 'consciously' allowed the attacks to happen and 66% want a fresh investigation, but these were people closest to the tragedy and most familiar with facts refuting the official account."

Thanks to the internet, people have more access to independent research, which aren't stricken with lies to help promote an agenda.

Maybe this questioning will start a series of changes. First we start to question the authority, then perhaps people will start thinking for themselves instead of the media telling them how to...

Maybe...

We can only hope, good luck America.
