The Patriot "Act"

Nearly every human being on the planet has a patriotic affiliation to their country. As a result of the events that unfurled due to the attacks on 9/11 there has been an extreme and unnatural patriotism instilled in the common American mind. Many of the people of this country have blindly followed every whim and command of the president just because he is the president. Everything told to these people by the media and the government is to them absolute truth. The American people as a whole welcomed the Patriot Act with open arms. In exchange for a false sense of security, the American public sold its very soul to the government. The people of America WILLINGLY gave up the freedoms which defined and once created us. The entire situation can only be paralleled with the era of McCarthyism. People accusing each other because of difference of opinion, over the very slightest of things. To most Americans it is unimaginable how people behaved during that time period, but in truth they are blinded to see the same exact thing before their very eyes.

What is it that we can learn from this particular set of circumstances? It is that the American people are easily tricked and swayed through a little bit of fear and an ever looming foreign threat to place the blame on.

There was a time where it was considered a reason to start a rebellion if we did not have our Due Process of Law. This was an idea that our founding fathers had, but it seems that times have changed, and Due Process isn't very important anymore.
